My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Sparkles, the adorable Pit Bull Mix who is ready to sprinkle some love and happiness into your life! This sweet 2-year-old girl was surrendered by her previous owner after being a dedicated mother to her puppies. Unfortunately, her owner could no longer afford to care for her once the puppies found their forever homes.

Sparkles is an energetic and active girl, weighing around 50 lbs. She loves nothing more than running and playing with her favorite stuffed toys. This loving girl is a constant companion and will stick by your side like a Velcro dog. She's a people pleaser and will do anything to make you happy.

Sparkles is not only cute and playful but also clever and curious. She loves meeting new people and will greet you with a friendly wag of her tail. She gets along well with other dogs but will need a furry friend who can match her energy level.

We are looking for an active and patient family who can provide Sparkles with the love and care she deserves.

Sparkles has been spayed, microchipped and Heartworm tested. We have updated all vaccines including rabies. She has been given a dewormer and started on flea/tick prevention.

More about this shelter

The Orange County Animal Shelter is responsible for providing humane care to unwanted, lost or abandoned animals
The Orange County Animal Shelter provides safe haven and vet care for hundreds of animals of all ages and descriptions each year.
Happily, we have had great success promoting our animals on Petfinder, Petsmart adoption events and now with the help of Adopt-A-Pet. Dozens of animals have been adopted by people who have come from many other states. Would you like to join them? If so, please let us know! The greater our reach the more homes we will find for the animals in our care.
Although we are about 1.5 hours away from the Washington, D.C. metro area, it is an easy drive. You can even make a day of it and stop off at country stores, Civil War battlefield sites and a huge mall complex in Spotsylvania/Fredericksburg. And after all, what is a few hours in drive time when you will be meeting your new best friend? If you need help getting here, call us for directions
