My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*****PLUTO'S EARS HAD BEEN LEFT INFECTED AND UNTREATED FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME> SADLY THIS WILL BE A LIFELONG CHRONIC CONDITION THAT WILL NEED TO BE WATCHED

****TESTED POSITIVE FOR LYME AND EHRLICHIA AND HAS STARTED MEDICATION TO TREAT

Pluto has been through a lot in his short 3 years of life. He was a stray, roaming the streets for who knows how long before he was finally rescued and brought to our shelter. When he arrived, he was covered in ticks and skin and bones. But despite his rough start, Pluto has never lost his charming and affectionate personality.

This handsome boy is a constant companion and a people pleaser. He loves nothing more than being by your side, showering you with love and affection. He also has an infectious happiness and playful spirit that will bring joy to any home.

Pluto is an active pup, but he also knows how to be a couch potato on lazy days. He loves going for walks and playing with his toys, but he also enjoys snuggling up next to his favorite humans. And let's not forget, he absolutely adores treats and will do just about anything for them!

While Pluto may be shy at first, it won't take long for him to warm up to you and show off his clever and curious nature. He's great with people and would make the perfect best friend for someone patient and loving. However, he can be picky with dogs, so a proper meet and greet is necessary. Pluto is a shy guy that would be best in a home with older dog savvy kids or no kids at all!

Pluto does have some special needs. When he arrived at the shelter, he had yeasty ears that were causing him pain. But with proper care and love, he's now on the road to recovery and ready to find his forever home.

Pluto has been neutered, microchipped and Heartworm tested. We have updated all vaccines including rabies. He has been given a dewormer and started on flea/tick prevention.

More about this shelter

The Orange County Animal Shelter is responsible for providing humane care to unwanted, lost or abandoned animals
The Orange County Animal Shelter provides safe haven and vet care for hundreds of animals of all ages and descriptions each year.
Happily, we have had great success promoting our animals on Petfinder, Petsmart adoption events and now with the help of Adopt-A-Pet. Dozens of animals have been adopted by people who have come from many other states. Would you like to join them? If so, please let us know! The greater our reach the more homes we will find for the animals in our care.
Although we are about 1.5 hours away from the Washington, D.C. metro area, it is an easy drive. You can even make a day of it and stop off at country stores, Civil War battlefield sites and a huge mall complex in Spotsylvania/Fredericksburg. And after all, what is a few hours in drive time when you will be meeting your new best friend? If you need help getting here, call us for directions
