My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pickles is a handsome 1 year old low-rider who came in as a stray. No one came looking for this darling boy.

When this boy arrived he had some scrapes and bumps and some swelling in his neck. He was started on medication but whatever injuries he had sustained before arrival had begun to create an abscess. The abscess burst and he received medical care to clean the wound and skin. Because of the size of the wound area Pickles needed some stitches and TLC. He is healing beautifully and will see the vet next week to remove the sutures.

Pickles is a little stocky tank of a guy. He loves his stuffed animals and playing in our play yards. He is shy in new situations and with new people. But once he settles in his a goofy and silly Love~A~Bull guy!

Pickles has done with the dogs he has met. At a year old he is still very much a puppy so he will need patience and understanding as he learns the household routines and masters the art of potty training.

Pickles has been neutered, microchipped and Heartworm tested. We have updated all vaccines including rabies. He has been given a dewormer and started on flea/tick prevention.

More about this shelter

The Orange County Animal Shelter is responsible for providing humane care to unwanted, lost or abandoned animals
The Orange County Animal Shelter provides safe haven and vet care for hundreds of animals of all ages and descriptions each year.
Happily, we have had great success promoting our animals on Petfinder, Petsmart adoption events and now with the help of Adopt-A-Pet. Dozens of animals have been adopted by people who have come from many other states. Would you like to join them? If so, please let us know! The greater our reach the more homes we will find for the animals in our care.
Although we are about 1.5 hours away from the Washington, D.C. metro area, it is an easy drive. You can even make a day of it and stop off at country stores, Civil War battlefield sites and a huge mall complex in Spotsylvania/Fredericksburg. And after all, what is a few hours in drive time when you will be meeting your new best friend? If you need help getting here, call us for directions
