My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

***GRADUATED THE COFFEE WOOD CANINE TRAINING PROGRAM

Meet Fern, an affectionate and sweet 5-year-old Hound who is ready to find her forever family. This pretty lady has had a tough start in life as a stray, but she hasn't let that dim her happy and affectionate personality. Not to mention, she is quite a vocal little lady and loves to chat with her human friends.

Fern is an active girl who loves to explore and go on adventures. So if you're an active person looking for a companion to join you on your hikes or runs, Fern is the dog for you! But don't worry, she also knows how to relax and will happily cuddle up with you after a long day of play.

As a constant companion, Fern will always be by your side, whether you're out exploring or just relaxing at home. She's a social butterfly and loves meeting new people. Her friendly and curious nature will surely win your heart. And not only does she love humans, but she also gets along well with other dogs.

Fern been spayed, vaccinated, tested, given dewormer, microchipped and started on flea/tick prevention, heartworm tested (NEGATIVE) and given heartworm prevention.

More about this shelter

The Orange County Animal Shelter is responsible for providing humane care to unwanted, lost or abandoned animals
The Orange County Animal Shelter provides safe haven and vet care for hundreds of animals of all ages and descriptions each year.
Happily, we have had great success promoting our animals on Petfinder, Petsmart adoption events and now with the help of Adopt-A-Pet. Dozens of animals have been adopted by people who have come from many other states. Would you like to join them? If so, please let us know! The greater our reach the more homes we will find for the animals in our care.
Although we are about 1.5 hours away from the Washington, D.C. metro area, it is an easy drive. You can even make a day of it and stop off at country stores, Civil War battlefield sites and a huge mall complex in Spotsylvania/Fredericksburg. And after all, what is a few hours in drive time when you will be meeting your new best friend? If you need help getting here, call us for directions
