My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Eclipse is a 2 year old playful and loving girl who was living on the streets and has had a few litters of kittens. Now she is ready to enjoy the good life indoors with a loving owner or family!

Eclipse’s foster describes this sweet lady as a “little treasure”. She has quite a unique story. Initially coming into rescue, Eclipse was pregnant and very scared. She did not understand what was happening and was worried for her newborn kittens, so she was very protective. Because of this she was assumed to be unsocialized and was spayed and given an ear tip so she could be released back outside. Thankfully her new foster felt she deserved a little more time to decompress and Eclipse QUICKLY turned around and showed that she can trust and love people very much! She is a wonderful, beautiful, sweet girl who makes a funny face and a cute sound when she “talks”. She has so much personality and loves to snuggle and play.

Eclipse may be more reserved at first, preferring to size up her surroundings initially, but once she feels safe she is a lover and PLOPPER! She loves to plop down to greet her human(s) and roll around and show you how happy she is to see you! She likes to explore and she likes a good hiding spot to catch some zzz’s.

Eclipse has a medium to high energy level and enjoys chasing her favorite toys around. Her favorite toy to chase is a wand/string toy.

Eclipse currently lives in a house with 2 humans and 1 other foster cat. Her and her foster friend, Tober, have the entire basement level to themselves! She gets along well with human adults and children, and also other cats. She hasn’t met any dogs yet.

Eclipse would thrive best in a forever family who will allow her some time initially to build trust. This can easily be done with her using food and treats and allowing her to hide when she needs a break. After a couple days, she will eventually make her round exploring, giving her signature PLOP to show she feels safe.

So, if you’re looking for the reward that comes with having a reserved cat choose YOU as their person, Eclipse may be perfect for you. Apply below to connect with her foster to learn more about what makes Eclipse such a wonderful cat.

There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best estimate. Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Additional adoption info

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

More about this rescue

Our Mission
Pet Haven improves the lives of pets and the people who love them by rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs and cats; reducing pet overpopulation by supporting spay and neuter efforts, and providing resources to people that help strengthen the human-animal bond.

Our Vision
A Minnesota where all pets live in safe, loving homes.

Our Values
Excellence in service and care; community; integrity; innovation; perseverance; compassion; a rewarding place to volunteer

How We Help
Spay/Neuter Initiative Program: Providing support to end pet overpopulation in Minnesota
Owner Surrender: Providing a safe haven for pet owners
Foster: Committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs
Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.

Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.

Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.

We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.

We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
