My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Whiskey Jack - a sweet and seasoned Thoroughbred gelding looking for his forever home! <3

Whiskey Jack is affectionate, kind and undeniably charismatic. His story speaks of his resilience. He came into the BCSPCA's care after being neglected and left at a boarding stable. His needs were not being met and he came into our care extremely underweight with a body score of 2/9.

Since then he has been recovering in a foster home and receiving all the vet care and love he was needing. His recovery has been speedy as he is getting the proper feed and treatments he was so desperate for. The vet has estimated that he is around 18 years old and he is 15'2 hands high. After some time in recovery and conditioning exercises, he was tested under saddle and did great! He has a bit of a busy head but was lovely being ridden. He does have some mild arthritis, but with some supportive care he could make a good companion for someone seeking a light riding partner for short adventures or an endearing equine friend for leisure.

Whiskey is as endearing as they come. With an unforgettable knack for humor, he has a playful habit of sticking his head out over the front of his stall, tilting his head with a mischievous expression and sticking his tongue out as he awaits his next meal. In true silly gelding fashion, he is a bit of a messy boy when it comes to keeping his stall clean. He has been living around other horses successfully and is showing signs that he would be the low man in the herd. Whiskey promises to bring lots of joy and laughter into your life. Despite his playful impatience around feeding, he remains respectful with no wall kicking or overly demanding behaviour, just a funny character eager to get his meal. He is very happy that it's a regular occurrence now.

His warmhearted disposition shines through in his interactions. He recently underwent a dental float and his calm, graceful response was unlike anything the vet had seen in 35 years. Though the sedation wasn't quite enough to make him unaware, he stood through the whole procedure showing his deep trust and gentle nature. When finished he even nudged the vet as if to say a quiet thank you, showing his uniquely sweet spirit.

Whiskey Jack is up to date on his vaccines, feet and dental care. He is a lovely boy who deserves a fresh start and a farm to call his own <3
