My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chloe
I hope someone reads my interview and decides I should become their cat. On November 14, my lifelong owner surrendered me to the HSHC. She found me as a stray kitten, and when I was about 8 months old, she had me declawed. That is when my paws began to hurt, and I gradually developed severe arthritis in my front legs. I am now 6-years-old and dealing with daily pain. The medical staff gave me a thorough examination, which revealed the arthritis, for which they gave me Cosequin to help me deal with the discomfort. I shared one litterbox with the other cat in the home. I did not care for this cat and tolerated the large dog living with us. I am relieved to be in the cattery, where I can relax and have one litterbox all to myself. The interviewer lady (IL) and I shared a lovely visit the other day. She complimented me on my beautiful buff and grey tabby coat and gave me abundant pets and rubs. In return, I headbutted her about 100 times, rubbed my head against hers, and purred continuously. She understood my problem with having declawed paws and how painful the litterbox could be. Unfortunately, many people don`t realize the problems caused by declawing, and they proceed with this surgery. Hopefully, my next home will give me a small, quiet place only for me to use. Soft, fine-grained kitty litter and at least 2 to 3 litterboxes conveniently placed will be just what I need. I have so much love and affection to share with the right person. Please give me a chance to become a beloved companion. 12-18-24

More about this shelter

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
