My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Steamboat, a dog with a personality as unique as his name. He carries an air of tranquility around him, a mellow soul that is content with the simple pleasures of life. A quiet corner, a gentle pat, or a leisurely walk is all it takes to keep him happy. Steamboat is fiercely independent, managing his own affairs with an air of dignified solitude. He doesn`t demand constant attention, but he`ll always be there when you need a calming presence. Steamboat is not just a pet, he`s a companion who can teach you the art of living simply and contentedly. Adopt Steamboat and experience the joy of having a serene and self-reliant companion by your side.

More about this shelter

We are an open admissions shelter, meaning we take in homeless animals regardless of age, breed, health, temperament or lack of space. On average, we take in about 5,500 stray, surrendered and abandoned animals per year including dogs, cats, small mammals, birds and reptiles. We provide adoption services to find safe, happy homes for these pets; and also provide low-cost vaccination and microchip clinics to help safeguard them against illness or being lost forever.
