Josh is a 6 year old miniature Schnauzer. He weighs 18 pounds and is a friendly dog. He came to us from a breeder who was retiring. He is more social than many breeder dogs. He has really come to life in his foster home learning play and potty training from the other dogs in the home. He likes pets and cuddles but isn't always brave enough to approach a person for them. All the dogs gotten from this location have been healthy and transitioned well to pet life.
Daisy is a 3.5-month-old Shepherd who is delightful puppy. She arrived at our care after rescued from a rural shelter. Since then, she has flourished in her foster home and is acquiring all the skills necessary to become a wonderful companion. She is making good progress potty training and enjoys the company of other dogs and. This will not be available for, so if you are interested, please apply promptly.

Adopt-A-Pet Events in the Kansas City Area

Cat adoptions are held at the PetSmart at 115th and Metcalf in Overland Park KS every Saturday from 12:00 to 3:00. Cats available for adoption every day at PetSmart in-store cage area.

Dog adoptions are held at the PetSmart in Olathe KS at 119th and Strang Line, every Saturday from 12:00 to 3:00.

Dog adoptions are held at the PetSmart in Lee's Summit MO at 920 NE Sam Walton Lane, also every Saturday from 12:00 and 3:00.

The Heart of America Humane Society is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit organization helping to place shelter and foster animals into permanent homes in and around the greater Kansas City metro area.

Our goal is to save and improve the lives of Kansas City's homeless companion animals by promoting responsible pet ownership. The Heart of America Humane Society (HAHS) partners with the Lee's Summit Animal Shelter (Lee's Summit MO) and KCK Animal Services (Kansas City KS) to increase pet adoptions into responsible, permanent homes.

Background
Our organization does not have a permanent facility or paid staff, so many of our adoptions take place at PetSmart stores and occasionally through other event venues. Some events raise awareness and bring in donations for our animal support efforts, while others help acknowledge and show appreciation for our own volunteers (who perform all duties outside of their regular jobs).
