Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Welcome to Muttville's newest polar bear rescue venture. Appa is a small, poofy, winter bear (well, small for a bear, pretty medium-sized for a dog). What Appa lacks in eyesight she makes up for in fluff. It's true, you're going to need to buy a separate Roomba specifically for Appa fluff, but the ROI you'll get in love will be well worth it.
See what her foster has to say!
Appa is such a gentle fluffy teddy bear - wow! She is sweet, slow going, and oh-so-cute! She is still getting her bearings in our new environment but she did great with all the different dogs running around at HQ and has been an ANGEL with all the volunteers giving her hugs and love and cuddles. She has been good with my two year old kiddo (basically just ignores her) and also does well with my resident dog, husband, and guests. Appa's current favorite past times seem to be waddling and sniffing around our back patio area and napping on our cold tile floors (despite the many beds and blankets provided - ha!).
One important thing to note is that she is significantly over weight, so much so that she cannot navigate stairs or walk much on leash without some help and her vision seems to be impacted by this as well (her fat folds and fur seem to block her eyes most of the time), but we're excited to see what she is capable of once she loses some lbs! We have a resident female chow chow that is almost the same exact size (but not overweight) and she navigates our stairs with ease and loves walkies and playing chase. The two of them are so cute and sweet together! We're hopeful and excited to see Appa's personality (and mobility) really bloom with some TLC.
Her previous name was Lucy and she does seem to respond to that, and great news, she is very clearly potty trained! If you love oversized teddy bears or small slow waddling clouds, this is the gal for you!

Additional adoption info
All of our senior mutts are vaccinated, spayed/neutered, microchipped, and given flea/tick/dewormer medication. Regular adoptions are typically $250, and there is no adoption fee for senior adopters and Hospice adoptions, though we love donations to help pay it forward for the next mutt!
