My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Toby! I’m a 2-year-old Siberian Husky mix, and I’ve got the most beautiful red and white coat that’ll stop you in your tracks. At 48 lbs., I’m a nice size — not too big, but big enough to keep you warm during chilly nights! I’ve got those striking Husky eyes and an adventurous spirit, and I’m always up for a good run or a fun play session. My tail wags pretty much all the time because I’m just so excited about life!

I wasn’t always in this awesome place, though. I was surrendered by my previous owner in South Carolina because they couldn’t afford to care for me anymore. That was a tough time but I’m not letting it get me down. I’m ready to start fresh and find my forever home, one that will love me and take care of me like I deserve. I’m also working on gaining a little weight — I could use a few extra pounds to get to my best self, but I’m on the right track!

Here’s what you really need to know about me: I am super people-friendly! I get along with everyone. I am very outgoing and affectionate - when I am in a home, I make myself very comfortable right away! I am very gentle and do great with kids. One of my favorite pastimes is playing with toys, napping on the couch (so I would LOVE my own little bed if possible please...unless you want to share yours!), and snuggling. I am totally open to grooming and don't mind it at all; as long as you give me lots of love, and treats are great too, grooming is no problemo!

I am working on my housetraining and crate training and am doing quite well. The nice people at AHOTO say I catch on very quickly. I'm quite smart if I don't say so myself!

Now, cats are meant to be chased, so if you have a cat, I'm probably not the right pup for you...unless you're not a fan of your cat! Also, I am fine when other dogs are around from afar, but I will do best as an only dog in my home. I prefer that it just be my people and me!

Since I have been bounced around a lot, I do have some separation anxiety. My new home will need to be patient with me and someone will need to be home at all times...at least at the beginning...until I am able to tolerate being left alone. AHOTO will guide my new people and suggest a great trainer to help with my separation anxiety training. The last home I was in said my separation anxiety was starting to decrease in just a week's time. My people will need patience and give me extra love and follow training advice so we can all be successful and live our best lives together!

I promise to fill your life with love, laughs, and lots of snuggles! Come meet me soon — I’m ready to find my forever family

Additional adoption info

The process to adopt/foster dogs and cats is different. Please speak to the volunteer assisting you in the adoption process to confirm details about the process.

Go meet their pets

We hold adoption events every weekend in the DC/Baltimore Metro Area and also schedule private meet and greets once a potential adopter/foster has applied for a specific dog or cat.
