Meet the Pet
This helps Adopt Korean Rescue - Vancouver with pet care costs.
Meet Hodu! He is a mixed breed boy, 15kg, 7 years old and neutered, and he is looking for a forever home and loving family!
He's currently being fostered in Vancouver
Hodu is all about being kind to those who are kind to him! He takes a bit of time warming up to new people, especially if they’re unfamiliar. But once he knows you’re a friend, he’s all in! Having spent six years in a shelter, so he might seem a bit reserved with strangers initially, rarely seeking attention himself. But for his beloved family (aka "mom and dad"), he’s their #1 fan, always by their side. If you’re the one who takes him on walks, he’ll especially bond with you, showing deep loyalty and trust.
Hodu is the life of the party in any dog café or dog park! He’s incredibly social and friendly with other dogs, making him a great companion for other pups. Hodu lives with three cats, and he’s a natural! He sleeps and eats alongside them, even joining in on some tunnel-playtime adventures. He has zero food aggression! Hodu doesn’t mind sharing his food, and he’s chill even if a cat decides to sit next to his bowl. He doesn’t have any possessiveness over toys either – he’s just happy to hang out!
On walks, he’s intrigued by squirrels, cats, and birds darting around, but he’s easily calmed. Just hold his leash firmly, say “no,” and he settles down in a flash. Dear Hodu enjoys leisurely daily walks – about 3-4 times a day, each around an hour or so, covering around 5-6 kilometers. Otherwise, he’s a low-energy, 16-hour snoozer who’s perfectly happy lounging around. Leash training? Nailed it! Hodu loves his walks so much that just seeing the leash makes him jump with joy. He’s well-behaved on walks, keeping pace either by your side or a bit ahead, and he’ll even pause when people, dogs or cyclists pass by. Hodu loves his crate and finds it to be a cozy little den for naps. He is also 100% outdoor potty-trained.
Hodu is nearly silent – his neighbors probably don’t even know he’s there! He’ll only give a few friendly barks if a stranger comes into the house. Once he feels at home, he’s no flight risk, but he may be a little nervous in new places at first, so some initial care is needed. When a female stranger tries to pet him, Hodu tends to keep his distance and stand still, but if an unfamiliar man tries to pet him, he will hide behind his family. While he can be reserved about being pet by strangers, he is fully relaxed and comfortable with family even when it comes to baths, brushing teeth, and nail trimming. He doesn’t chew on furniture or have any destructive habits and is also very happy to share his food, toys, and space with both people and other dogs alike. Hodu is a healthy chap with no health issues!
He was rescued and brought to the shelter six years ago after being found wandering the streets. Back then, young Hodu loved people and would eagerly follow the person who found him. However, it seems he developed a bit of trauma when he was captured, which affected his relationship with people during his time at the shelter. He continued living at the Yongbo Shelter until six months ago, when a foster family took him in, giving him the chance to experience life in a home environment.
