My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Pearl – Sweet and Gentle Doxie-Beagle Mix!

Pearl is an 8-year-old Doxie-Beagle mix who is as sweet as can be! She’s a laid-back, loving girl looking for a family to share her affection. Pearl is super well-behaved and appears to be 100% house-trained—she's the perfect companion for someone looking for an easy-going, well-mannered pup.

Pearl is a true people dog—she follows her foster mom everywhere and loves to be by her side. Her favorite spot to rest is on a chair in her foster mom’s bedroom, where she feels cozy and safe. She loves sitting with people and enjoys all the attention they have to offer. While Pearl loves affection, she’s not demanding, making her the ideal companion for those who want a dog that enjoys closeness without being overly clingy.

Pearl is a big fan of treats and takes them gently, showcasing her sweet nature. Though she hasn’t barked once, we think that may come with time as she settles into her new environment.

Pearl is arriving in New England on 12/22, ready to meet her forever family. Don’t miss out on the chance to bring this sweet, gentle girl into your home!

Pearl's Story -
The Memphis rescue community recently lost a beloved member, Suzy of Meadow Wood Rescue, who dedicated her life to saving countless needy dogs. Following her passing, fellow rescuers have stepped in to ensure her personal dogs and rescues find loving homes. With a three-month timeline to transition these dogs, we’re focusing on rehoming her senior dogs—the ones most in need and missing their mom deeply.

Paws New England is honored to assist with this effort. All the dogs have been placed in foster homes, where they adjust well, though they are understandably confused and grieving. Suzy cared for these sweet seniors well, but they required updates on vaccinations, dental cleanings, and some surgical procedures. Much of this care has been completed thanks to generous community donations and veterinary support.

We’re just beginning to discover each dog's unique personality and are committed to finding them loving, permanent homes as soon as possible. While we know the basics of their behavior, house training, and visible health, potential adopters should be aware that, due to limited resources, we haven’t conducted extensive tests for underlying conditions like kidney or liver issues.

This is where you come in. By adopting one of Suzy’s cherished seniors, you’re offering a second chance to a needy dog—saving them from the shelter system and providing comfort in their golden years. Your home could be their sanctuary as they embark on the next chapter of their journey.

More about this rescue

PAWS is comprised of a small group of volunteers from New England and Tennessee trying to reduce the euthanization rate (previously 90%) at the Tipton County Animal Control shelter in Brighton, Tennessee. This shelter is forced to euthanize thousands of animals each year due to irresponsible pet owners that do not spay/ neuter their dogs in the area. Millions of dogs in America are euthanized each year due to lack of space and lack of funding to try and find them better homes.

Our mission is to save as many animals as possible, removing them from the shelter, having their veterinary needs met prior to traveling and then finding them loving homes throughout New England. We do this only with the assistance of many people volunteering their time by going to the shelter, transporting the dogs to the vet, fostering dogs who need special care, and arranging for their new and happy homes in this area. Most importantly, we cannot do any of this without those people willing to open their homes and hearts to these lovely creatures.
