Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a
question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If
interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found
at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/.
Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up
meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file.
Adoptions must be within a reasonable distance from Mickleton, NJ for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit.
Meet Ozzie! Ozzie is a 14-year-old, 10 lb., Terrier mix who was surrendered to the shelter by his owner. He was dirty with a long, matted coat and a badly infected mouth. It was time for a new beginning.
Ozzie came into our rescue and was given a good groom. He received a dental to remove his last four teeth and felt so much better. Now Ozzie cannot eat his food fast enough and makes happy noises while chowing down. Ozzie is deaf but has good vision. He is almost fully potty trained and uses belly bands. Ozzie has had seizures while in foster care. He currently doesn’t take any medication for them, and the vet is advising to watch and see if it reoccurs. Ozzie can handle stairs and walks well on a leash. He would love another dog to keep him company in the home. Ozzie doesn’t like to be alone so his ideal home would have someone there most of the time. He is a velcro dog and always wants to be near someone. We don’t think Ozzie was held much in his former home so he is still getting used to that, but he will happily cuddle up next to you wherever you are.
All Ozzie truly wants is to be with someone all day and feel safe and loved. He will make an amazing bed warmer and couch cuddler. If you have a little extra room in your home for a sweet, deserving pup, please apply today!

The goal of Senior Dog Haven & Hospice is to find the best home possible for our senior dogs. To assist us in this endeavor, SDH&H requires a fully completed application, references, and a visit to your home by one of our trained volunteers. For this reason we only process applications within a reasonable commute from the dog's foster home.
Our adoption fee is $200, however we offer a discounted rate of $150 for senior adopters over the age of 65.

More about this rescue
We are a small, dedicated group of fosters and volunteers. We strive to improve the lives of senior dogs who find themselves without a family to care for them anymore. We do not have a facility. Our dogs live in our homes as members of our families. We provide care, comfort, companionship and, most of all, unconditional love. We have worked in senior rescue for years, and see the continuing and growing need to get them out of shelters where they are often euthanized because of their age and/or medical reasons, or from owners that find themselves in crisis and no longer able to care for their companions (nursing home, illness, abusive situations, etc).
Senior Dog Haven and Hospice is a registered 501(c)3. All donations to our rescue are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
