My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Rocky
He is a 10y old neutered male beagle who is looking for a new home for the new year. Rocky finds himself at BTTR through no fault of his own. This good boys previous owner left him with a friend while looking for a new place to live and was unable to reclaim him after 3 months. The owner and friend turned to BTTR for help finding a new home for Rocky.

Rocky's wish list includes a home with a fenced in yard, and the opportunity to go on walks and play with other dogs a few times a week. He loves running zoomies around the yard, chasing another dog through the leaves, sniffing trees on a walk, and sleeping on a cozy bed. He has done well in a home with other dogs, seems interested in cats but is respectful, and would be a good fit for kids and most older people.

He was neutered on Dec 16th, just had blood work run, is microchipped, heartworm negative, and up to date on vaccines. He has a Senior Wellness exam scheduled for Dec 26th.
BTTR offers a trial period to all of our adoptions to make sure it’s the right fit! As a Senior Rocky qualifies for a Special Reduced Senior Adoption Fee. Can you help Rocky out?

More about this rescue

We are Beagles to the Rescue a non-profit animal rescue located in Chesapeake, VA. BTTR was founded in 2008 and has placed over 1,000 dogs and counting since then.
Our beagles come from shelters, hunt clubs, stray pickups, and families across south eastern Virginia and north eastern North Carolina. We are a no-kill organization placing dogs as indoor pets in a home that matches them perfectly.
We are a 100% volunteer run organization and we are funded solely by donations.
We are not a traditional brick and mortar shelter, our dogs live in foster homes or at an open boarding kennel (think giant dog park). The kennel has acres of fenced in grassy fields for the dogs to run and play on while searching for a new home.
