My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Brief Description: This is "Pudge." What you see is what you get...easy going, calm, well...lazy. :)

Likes: Being a couch potato, chewing on Nylabones, eating, sleeping...he's a guy with simple pleasures.

Dislikes: Having is nails clipped. Having to wait more than 30 seconds for his food when it's being prepared.

Personality: Calm. Chill. Quiet (except when food is being prepared for him). Can be stubborn!

Temperament: Laid back. Not much upsets or excites Pudge.

Energy level: None.

Favorite activities: EATING! Watching TV on the couch with his human while he chews a bone.

Good with cats, dogs, and kids (over 6)?: Cats: unknown; Dogs: great - no issues; Kids: unknown but suspect he would be absolutely fine. Haven't found anything so far Pudge isn't good with. He doesn't particularly care to have his nails clipped or baths but he tolerates both.

House trained: Working on it and making good progress. It is uncertain where Pudge came from and/or if he's ever been house trained so, therefore, he was started from scratch and he's come a long way. With a consistent schedule and time to adjust he should do well.

Crate trained: YES! Pudge loves his crate.

Requires a fenced yard (physical fence and/or invisible fence?): No.

Walks well on a leash?: When he wants to. Pudge doesn't pull or fight. He just won't walk with his human if it's not where he wants to go. Been working on that and he's doing much better.

Challenges: Getting him to socialize more with people and pets. Pudge mostly keeps to himself. He is starting to make attempts to play with the other dogs and humans here and there but needs encouragement.

Pudge will need lots of encouragement to get any exercise.

Any medical issues?:  Pudge is currently being treated for a persistent skin infection secondary to suspected allergies. He is much improved from when he first arrived. Pudge has recovered well from recent bilateral entropion. Eye irritation and drainage is markedly decreased since the surgery. Pudge has been on a long-term antibiotic treatment and, as a result, he has been having persistent soft stools, however, it's been controlled with feeding Science Diet I/D food and Pepto-Bismol.

What would be the best kind of home?:  Pudge would be perfectly happy to be an only dog getting all the attention lavished upon him; however, he is also fine with the other dogs in the household. Pudge is ideal for someone who wants a calm, easy going companion. He is not a hiking, running, or hunting dog by any means.
