My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This adorable pair are a mother/son duo who originally came from a feral colony with Sandy’s two brothers (Tiny and Sparkles), and Saffron’s sister, Truffles. While Truffles was the most confident of the family and has already been adopted, Saffron and Sandy needed some extra attention so they went into a foster home where they would be able to get more focused attention and they’re doing great so far! There was definitely an adjustment period while they got used to being in a home setting (Sandy’s first ever and possibly momma Saffron’s first as well!), they are now coming out and exploring and are enjoying spending time with the humans in the home!

Regardless of what they’re doing, whether it be exploring, playing, or napping in various positions, everything these two do, they do together and because of that, we can’t split them up! Saffron tends to be the braver of the two and is the first to venture into new territory, but after just a few minutes, Sandy will follow behind her. Then they’ll take a few minutes to regroup, and then Saffron will start the next leg of their adventure.

These two are still very timid, so they’d do best in a calmer household with older or calmer kids, but they can be drawn out to play with toys (especially feather toys) pretty easily! They are also big fans of treats and can be lured out for a good snack.

They haven’t had much experience with dogs, but would most likely be fine with a calm dog after an adjustment period and they did great with the other cats we had in our cat room.

They probably aren’t ever going to be super outgoing cats who will let anyone pet them, but we have a feeling that once these two trust their people, they’re going to be absolute sweethearts and most likely pretty big lap cats, they just need someone willing to give them the chance to warm up to them!

They are both spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all their vaccines. If you are interested in adopting this adorable duo, you can fill out an application for them on our website, waywardranch.org!

More about this rescue

Our Mission: To provide a quality life to the animals that need it most.

Wayward Ranch Animal Sanctuary, Inc. is a 501c3, tax exempt non-profit organization and all donations to our sanctuary are tax deductible.

The Dream:

Wayward Ranch was founded by three friends who, after working for other rescues for a long time, realized there was something missing from the average rescue model. No animal is perfect, and in the typical shelter system any behavioral concerns an animal had coming in are just exacerbated the longer they are kenneled or caged waiting for a home.

Many local shelters have taken to shipping puppies up from the south because they are more “adoptable” than the shelter animals we have here. However, this just floods are market and takes homes and resources from our local animals who are suffering as a result.

We are committed to a different type of rescue experience. We are a unique combination of adoption and sanctuary facility, taking the pressure of euthanasia away from animals who may not be generically adoptable. We also help our animals thrive, rather than deteriorate, as they wait for forever homes using a combination of enrichment and training techniques.
