Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Tootsie – A Resilient Sweetheart Ready for Her Forever Home!
Tootsie is a 1.5-year-old, 31-lb Corgi and Cattle Dog mix with a story of resilience and a heart full of love. Despite her challenging beginnings, Tootsie’s hopeful spirit has always shone through. Since her rescue, she’s blossomed into a loyal and affectionate companion.
About Tootsie:
Loves to Snuggle: Tootsie’s favorite thing in the world is snuggling. Whether she’s curled up beside you on the couch or resting her head in your lap, she has a way of making everyone feel loved.
Crate Comfort: Her crate is her safe haven. She loves carrying her favorite toys inside and sometimes naps with them tucked under her paws.
Progress with Training:
Tootsie is well on her way to being fully potty trained. Living with puppies who use pee pads, she’s even tried them herself a few times!
She’s learning leash walking and making incredible progress.
She’s also working on not jumping up when she’s excited and improving every day.
Tootsie’s Personality:
Cautious but Loving: Tootsie can be shy around new people and dogs, but once she gets to know you, she’ll be your best buddy.
Appreciative of Life’s Little Joys: Her past has made her a dog who treasures the small things—soft blankets, kind words, and belly rubs are her absolute favorites.
Ideal Home:
Tootsie would thrive in a home filled with love and patience. She’s looking for a family who will continue helping her build confidence and celebrate her milestones.

More about this rescue
We are a small 501 C3 nonprofit rescue located in Elburn, Illinois. In 2014, Safe Haven Dog Rescue became its own non-profit. We are licensed by the Illinois Agriculture Department.
The majority of our dogs and puppies are pulled from Kill Pounds and Shelters in Tennessee, Arkansas, and Illinois. We also accept local medical cases as often as our finances will allow.
Please take a few moments to read the stories about the dogs and puppies we have available for adoption. We disclose everything we know about the dogs, sometimes we know a lot often we know only that they were strays, thrown away on the side of the road, in the woods, or found in abandoned houses.
While we don’t always know their past we are certain that their future is much brighter.
We hope that you and your family are part of the future…..
