Hi there, I'm Moondog! I'm a handsome 5-year-old kitty hoping to find my new, loving home. I'll admit, I'm a little on the shy side, so I'm looking for a quiet and predictable environment where I can feel safe and loved. I might take a little time to adjust, but with patience and understanding, I'll come out of my shell. For now, I'd love to curl up in a cozy hidey bed where I can relax and take it all in. A calm home with someone who appreciates shy kitties like me would be ideal. I'd feel most comfortable with kids over 6, so I can truly settle in and thrive without too much hustle and bustle. If you've got a warm spot and a loving heart, I might just be a great fit. Come meet me at KHS, and let's see if we're meant to be. I promise, I'm worth the wait!

Entry to the shelter is currently limited, and walk-ins are not permitted for general pet viewing. Masks are currently optional.

View our Available Pets page and select a few that you would like to meet. Then download an Adoption Application and fill it out prior to visiting our shelter. Our adoption process is a walk-up and queue-based, first-come, first-served system. You will have a meet and greet with an Adoption Counselor to discuss your application, review information on the pets you would like to meet, and you will be introduced to the pet(s).If the Meet and Greet is a success, staff will complete your adoption paperwork to make it official! If your new family member is already spayed/neutered, they will go home with you right away!

More about this shelter

Kitsap Humane Society is a private, nonprofit animal shelter. We rescue and rehome over 6000 pets each year. Every dog or cat leaves our shelter spayed or neutered and with complete vaccines and a microchip. We have been caring for animals in need since 1908 and envision a time when all adoptable pets have loving homes.

We are extremely proud of our exceptionally high “lives saved” rate of over 96%. Through our active adoption, behavior, foster, transfer, and veterinary programs, we are able to rehome every adoptable animal that enters our facility. No animal is ever euthanized for lack of space.

In addition to caring for and adopting animals, we also provide spay/neuter services to low income residents of Kitsap County, and provide Animal Rescue and Enforcement services to our surrounding municipalities.
