My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Helene is a female gray tabby, born on August 13, 2024. She is quiet but sweet, shy but affectionate, loves to play, loves to watch the birds, is well-behaved and uses her litter box like a champ. She gets along well with her sister if you are considering two! The three of them, (Helene, Stormy2, and Hurricane) came out of the woods with ulcers on their eyes. Helene had an ulcer in her eye; but it healed beautifully, leaving a small scar that should heal more overtime. Helene and her brother and sister were rescues after Hurricane Helene. The adoption fee is $150. This covers the cost of spay/neuter, PVR, Rabies, flea, tick, ear mite and worm treatment. To adopt, you need to first fill out an application. Go to:

We are located in Western North Carolina. Optional transport is weekly. After your application is approved, we will contact you regarding cost and delivery if you so desire.

We are located in Western North Carolina, but we serve areas as far north as New Hampshire with our weekly transport. The adoption fee covers the cost of spay/neuter, PVR or FVL-CP, Rabies, Flea, tick, ear mite and worm treatment before transport. All of our pets receive a health certification prior to transport. The transport is weekly. After your application is approved, we will contact you regarding cost and delivery.

We are located in Western North Carolina. All of our pets are housed with foster parents. You may visit our pets in North Carolina, but call ahead so that we can make them available to you.

Rutherford County Humane Society is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that has been serving Rutherford County since 1979, with the mission to significantly improve the lives of unwanted and neglected animals, and to measurably decrease this number through our spay and neuter programs, volunteer foster homes, and outreach and education. We are an independent organization that works in collaboration with other area animal advocacy groups. All of our efforts depend on our passionately compassionate volunteers, and financial support from the community.
