***** IMPORTANT! Read note at bottom regarding what a Hero Dog is and the adoption fee *****
Huxley is a 1.5 yr old Yorkie boy weighing in at about 11-12 lbs. He is a sweet, affectionate, energetic, happy-go-lucky little guy who just wants to play, play, play with other dogs all day. For this reason, we feel most comfortable placing him in a home where he will have a fursibling to do just that. He is great with dogs of all sizes, small and extra large - he loves them all! And he’s even fine around cats, too! He is currently located near Trenton NJ.
Aside from being a great addition to any home, what makes Huxley even more special is the fact that he is a Hero Dog who has a greater purpose — saving the lives of fellow pets in urgent need.
————- IMPORTANT NOTE! —————-
A Hero Dog is one who is specifically donated to our rescue in order to raise critically needed funds for life-saving surgeries of other pets in the rescue.
Huxley’s $2000 adoption fee will be used for Della’s amputation surgery, King’s eye removal surgery, and Gunner’s rectal prolapse repair (which currently total apx $10k). You can view a photo collage of these 3 dogs in the photo gallery.
Many people do not think twice about ‘purchasing’ a purebred pet from a breeder for thousands of dollars, which simply puts a profit in somebody’s pocket. In this case, the adoption fee/donation is actually used to SAVE THE LIVES of other pets who would have been euthanized because a small 501c3 rescue like ours does not have the necessary funding or adequate donations to do so otherwise.
In essence, when you adopt this pet, you may be opening your heart and home to one dog, but you’re actually saving the lives of 4 altogether. By doing so, you become a sponsor of those dogs too and you will get continuous updates as to their progress and as they embark on their journey to finding their fairytale ending as well.
Thank you for your understanding and for partnering with us in this mission. We are a small team of volunteers with well over 100 dogs in our rescue at any given time, all of whom were saved from death row in high kill shelters or had been abandoned in their community. No one here receives a salary of any kind so 100% of every dollar donated goes directly to the animals in our care and your adoption donation is tax deductible.
