Velma is a curious, timid little luv bug. She is very sweet but shy. She is scared of sudden movement and sudden noises. Velma enjoys her walks (working on leash manners) but also loves to snuggle on the couch. She can be given the run of the house for short periods but can get destructive if not crated when home alone. Velma really needs another dog for company and confidence. She loves to run in the yard with her foster sister and doesn't try to escape by digging or fence jumping.
Velma has had a few accidents in the house. She has been getting good at using the doggy door. When her foster sister goes out she likes to follow her and will potty outside. She has even started going out on her own. She will do her best with a fenced yard. Also, because she is so skittish she will do best in a calm, adult home with minimal alone time. She really is most comfortable in a quiet environment.
Velma really is the sweetest little girl. She is a very young nine years old and deserves to spend her days with a wonderful family.
NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

More about this rescue
BREW Midwest is the midwest region of BREW Inc. (Beagle Rescue, Education and Welfare). We are a network of volunteers and foster homes across Western PA, OH, MI, IN and IL.
Our Mission:
*Rescue beagles in danger of euthanasia from shelters
*Help beagles that have been removed from neglectful or abusive situations
*Educate families about beagles and their special qualities
*Find kind, loving families for homeless or abandoned beagles.
BREW is dedicated to rescuing and re-homing beagles. The main focus is beagles in shelters that are faced with imminent extermination. BREW works with shelters and animal control facilities and adopt beagles to families throughout our region. In addition to our rescue efforts, BREW is dedicated to increasing public awareness of pet overpopulation and encouraging pet owners to spay and neuter their pets. Towards that end, no beagle over six months of age is adopted from BREW without being spayed or neutered. BREW also works to alert people about the disadvantages of purchasing pets from a "pet store."
