My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Blackthorn: Your Sleek House Panther!

Blackthorn is a 5-month-old black shorthair kitten with a sleek coat, long legs, and a striking resemblance to a miniature panther. This athletic boy loves to jump, climb, and explore—often finding his way into spots he probably shouldn’t!

Though a little shy at first, Blackthorn is learning to trust and has discovered the joy of being petted. Once he’s comfortable with you, he’ll reward you with a loud purr and enthusiastically nudge your hand for ear rubs. While he doesn’t yet enjoy being picked up, he’s always nearby his human, napping at your elbow, quietly observing, or following at a safe distance. However, he can startle easily at sudden movements or loud noises, so a calm and patient household will help him continue to blossom.

Blackthorn loves playtime, especially with feather toys and silvervine chew sticks. His curiosity sometimes leads him to investigate electrical cables, so his future adopters will need to keep cords safely tucked away. A playful kitty friend would be the perfect companion to help him burn off his boundless energy and boost his confidence. He has not yet met a dog or kids, but may do OK with a calm, cat-savvy pup, and older, respectful children, with proper introductions.

Blackthorn is neutered, dewormed, flea treated, microchipped, vaccinated, and has tested FIV/FeLV-. With time, patience, and a gentle hand, this sweet panther-in-training will make a loyal and loving companion.

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

Typically we talk a little with potential adopters to find a cat who is a good fit before sharing the application.

2.

Approve Application

We check over the application including checking vet references and doing landlord checks.

3.

Interview

We spend more time chatting with the adopters to specifically go over any questions from the application and details about the specific cat.

4.

Meet the Pet

Potential adopters have a meet and greet with the cat or kitten in the foster home.

5.

Sign Adoption Contract

At the meet and greet, if all goes well, the adoption contract can be signed, the fee can be paid, and the pet can go home!

6.

Pay Fee

7.

Additional adoption info

We try to do our best to make sure we find good fitting, responsible homes, without wasting a lot of our time. Our app has a lot of screening questions which help eliminate potential adopters who might not be serious (they usually just don't return the app), or not a good fit, which is why the in depth interview happens once the app is returned.

More about this rescue

We are a small but dedicated 501c3 nonprofit cat rescue specializing in making one person's garbage kitten another person's forever cat.

Our mission is to reduce feline suffering and overpopulation using a combination of TNR and adoptions. We foster and socialize whenever we have the resources to do so, including behavioral cats and kittens who might otherwise just be candidates for TNR.
