My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Fletcher is 55 lbs of joy and love!
He had a rough past, as he was abandoned in front of the shelter, tied to a tree overnight. He was found in the morning by a worker entering SOS El Arca Animal Rescue. He was malnourished and very sad. He was about 1,5- 2 years old, so young enough that he didn’t understand that the people who were supposed to care for him broke his trust.

Fortunately the shelter staff gave Fletcher love and attention and he recovered quickly. Despite his past, Fletcher’s personality shines. He loves people and wants to please them. He is like your best friend who wants to be part of your life, and a great companion. After spending 3 years at the shelter, he got his ticket to freedom in New York and is being fostered by a family with 4 dogs.

Fletcher is full of life and energy but just as easily can be calm and cuddly.  If you are looking for a friend type of dog, he’s your guy! He’s always ready to be by your side, or more accurately on your heels to share your next adventure or nap.
Fletcher is a social butterfly, friendly and loving to everyone he meets. Men, woman, children…He is very docile yet sweet when meeting new people.

His skills walking on a leash are a work-in-progress as he pulls when he sees another dog passing him by but he responds well to correction. He loves to go for walks, the longer the better. He is a high-energy dog and will need an outlet for this energy daily.

He is very smart, easily trainable, and in-tune with his environment—he will literally read a room; you can almost see the wheels turning in his head.

He is crate-trained but he sleeps on his bed at his foster home. He is terrific in cars and loves going for rides.

His ideal adopter would be one with an active lifestyle who wants to include him in every aspect of it.  He would be fine in a home with or without another dog, or in an apartment in the city taken out on walks. He is highly trainable, so his potential is huge. He will make someone an amazing companion.

Fletcher is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, neutered, dewormed, Heart worm (4dx snap) tested, and has a health certificate. He comes to an adopter with a harness, a collar, and two leashes for safety.

If you feel you would be the right fit for Fletcher, please fill out our adoption application or email us at sosanimalwelfare@gmail.com.
We will happily get back to you!
