My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Blitzen is a 4-month-old, playful and sweet kitten looking for his forever home!

This handsome guy has a sweet and playful personality. He really enjoys getting affection from his humans and prefers to snuggle with his littermates during nap times. He loves to explore his surroundings, creating play toys out of anything in his path. Compared to his littermates, his has a slightly calmer personality but still has plenty of crazy kitten time in spurts.

Blitzen loves to wrestle with his littermates as well as play with soft cat toys and cat toy wands. Tunnels help him show off his running skills, as well as tall cat trees he can climb up in seconds. When he isn't playing, he really enjoys snuggling with his littermates and taking long naps.

Blitzen starts out his busy kitten day by eating the wet food his foster mom gives him and his littermates. After he has a full belly, it's time for some sprinting around the house and wrestling with his littermates. Afternoon is reserved for naps high up in the cat tree in a big kitten pile. In the early evening it is play time again! He gets all his zoomies out before heading to bed.

Blitzen currently lives in a foster home with his mama cat and littermates. There are adult cats and dogs in the home as well.

Blitzen's ideal home is one with another playful cat or kitten that will offer plenty of playtime and snuggles. Because of his young age, Blitzen will need to be adopted with one of his siblings (check out any of the other ""Christmas"" themed kittens) or into a home with another friendly young cat to show him the ropes. He would do well in a moderately busy or quiet home, with people who are around a lot to provide him with lots of love and affection.

He may not be a total lap cat, but Blitzen still loves a good snuggle session. He seems to really enjoy the company of his littermates and interacts with them instead of the other adult cats in the home. This friendly guy will need to go home with one of his littermates, or to a home with an active young resident cat to show him the ropes.

Blitzen does great with other cats and large dogs. He seems comfortable around friendly cats and dogs that mainly ignore him. He does well with older children and has been fine with children as young as 4 years old.

This sweet boy will be neutered on 12/14. After that, he is so ready to bring all the holiday cheer to his forever family. Could that be you?

There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best estimate. Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated.

Cats are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow up visits and boosters that are not covered by Pet Haven after adoption. Interested in adopting or learning more about this cat? Additional adoption info

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

More about this rescue

Our Mission
Pet Haven improves the lives of pets and the people who love them by rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs and cats; reducing pet overpopulation by supporting spay and neuter efforts, and providing resources to people that help strengthen the human-animal bond.

Our Vision
A Minnesota where all pets live in safe, loving homes.

Our Values
Excellence in service and care; community; integrity; innovation; perseverance; compassion; a rewarding place to volunteer

How We Help
Spay/Neuter Initiative Program: Providing support to end pet overpopulation in Minnesota
Owner Surrender: Providing a safe haven for pet owners
Foster: Committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs
Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.

Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.

Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.

We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.

We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
