Schatzi is settling back into the shelter after living most of her life in a home. Her former owner apparently left Schatzi with a roommate and then went radio silent. The roommate brought her back to PAWS, and we are committed to helping Schatzi find a forever home where she can thrive again.
She is quiet at the shelter and has excellent manners. Schatzi walks beautifully on leash and loves to be out and about. She takes note of the many very fat squirrels around the shelter but doesn’t get overly fussed about them. We don’t know how she feels about other dogs, but she is able to politely pass them while out on walks. Schatzi is 7 and had a comfortable gentleness about her, making her an easy companion.
We believe she was potty-trained in her home, but she may need a little grace and help getting back into a routine with frequent walks, as she adjusts to being in her new home.
We’ve walked Schatzi a few times and have taken her to play in our off-leash area, where she enjoyed looks of smellvestigating. The first time we walked her, she seemed a little distant, probably given the stress she was feeling. But, when we came back for a second walk, she did a little happy-tappy dance and made some very cute “hello again” vocalizations that made us smile.
