Simba might be one of our smallest pigs, but he has one of the biggest personalities!
He originally came to us after being bounced around from home to home through social media, originally because he had grown too big to live in the house.
Simba can be very picky in who he likes and doesn’t like and he’s not afraid to let you know if he’s not a fan! However, if he does like you, he will come up to greet you when you walk to where he is, talking the whole time! He can also be super cuddly and will hang out as long as you are willing to.
He had been pretty isolated from other pigs for the majority of his life, so it took him a long time to adjust to living with the herd and to warm up to them, but he does well with them now!He’s currently living with our main pig herd with several other pigs and is 3rd or 4th in the pecking order and is best friends with our largest pig, Pinocchio! He’s also lived with a few goats in the past and loves living with them (they’re much more comfortable to cuddle with, so we understand!)
Because Simba can be a difficult pig, we’re looking for a home that already has some pig experience and we would love for him to get adopted with his buddy, Pinochs, but he would also do well living with goats! He is also super smart and would do well as an indoor or outdoor pig.

We require at least 2 personal references and a home visit. Depending on circumstances a vet reference or landlord reference will also be requested.

The Dream:
Wayward Ranch was founded by three friends who, after working for other rescues for a long time, realized there was something missing from the average rescue model. No animal is perfect, and in the typical shelter system any behavioral concerns an animal had coming in are just exacerbated the longer they are kenneled or caged waiting for a home.
Many local shelters have taken to shipping puppies up from the south because they are more “adoptable” than the shelter animals we have here. However, this just floods are market and takes homes and resources from our local animals who are suffering as a result.
We are committed to a different type of rescue experience. We are a unique combination of adoption and sanctuary facility, taking the pressure of euthanasia away from animals who may not be generically adoptable. We also help our animals thrive, rather than deteriorate, as they wait for forever homes using a combination of enrichment and training techniques.
