My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you looking to add a little more furry to your household? Well let me introduce you to Duckie!

At a mere 6 months old, Duckie is still learning about the world around him, and can be a little shy when he's introduced to new things & situations. You can often find Duckie camouflaging in a spot where he can watch everything going on without being disturbed.

Don't let Duckie's skill in finding napping spots fool you; he can sure get down for playtime. Duckie's current obsession is toys on a string, and he will show you just how fast he can move!

If you think Duckie may be your purrfect new family member, hit the link below to fill out a pre-adoption questionnaire, or stop by the Centre during our open hours!

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
