My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Toffee and Cheesecake!

This sweet duo is looking for an experienced, adult-only home where patience and love can help them blossom. Toffee, the social butterfly of the pair, is a stunning mix of white, brown, and black, while Cheesecake, the shyer one, is mostly white with splashes of black and an adorable brown bum.

These young guinea pigs are not suited for first-time owners or homes with small children as primary caregivers. Due to limited early interaction, they are quite skittish and will need a dedicated family to gently build their trust and confidence.

Because of their specific needs, we will only be accepting applicants over the age of 19. If you have experience with nervous guinea pigs and are ready to invest the time and care to help these two feel safe, Toffee and Cheesecake are eager to meet their perfect match!

The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
