My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tiny Tim was transferred to Valley Humane on 12/12 from Stockton Animal Services. He had been found stray. Tiny Tim is an adult dog (estimated to be between 4 and 7 years old) and weighs 6.3 pounds. He received a dental cleaning on 12/13.

Tiny Tim was diagnosed with grade IV patellar luxation in his left knee and a grade II patellar luxation in his right knee. This condition is common in small and toy breed dogs. In grade I, the patella sometimes moves out of place but returns to its normal position its own. In grade IV, the patella (kneecap) is constantly out of place and does not move back into its normal position. Grades II and III are intermediate in between these. Patellar luxation can cause occasional intermittent to constant lameness. Surgical correction should be considered if the dog shows frequent lameness or pain.

Tiny Tim has possible color dilution alopecia. CDA is primarily caused by genetic factors. Dogs with dilute coat colors possess a recessive gene that results in the dilution of pigments in their coat, skin, and eyes. This genetic alteration can affect the structure and function of the dog`s hair follicles, leading to hair loss and skin problems. Treatment is focused on managing the condition and relieving your dog`s symptoms. Tiny Tim appears to be comfortable at this time so no treatment is needed.

Tiny Tim was diagnosed with a symphyseal separation. This usually occurs secondary to trauma or dental disease. Since the mandibular symphyseal separation does not appear to be bothering him or hindering his ability to eat, no further treatment will be done at this time.

Additional adoption info

Adopters must be at least 21 years of age, or 18 years with a co-adopter age 21+ at the same residence, and provide legal ID showing current address to verify age. Potential adopters should understand that VHS reserves the right to deny any adoption for any reason. We recommend that all adults in the household meet the adoptive animal. Resident dogs must undergo a "meet and greet" with the adoptive animal prior to approval.

Fill out an adoption application (available at VHS) and speak to one of our adoption counselors. Upon approval, additional paperwork will be completed, including adoption agreement. Please allow approximately one hour to complete the full process.

Adoptions are processed on a first come, first served basis; because of this, animals seen on this site may no longer be available by the time you arrive at our adoption center. Likewise, there may be animals in our facility whose pictures haven't made it to the website yet! Feel free to call ahead for information.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

Valley Humane conducts adoptions by appointment only. Adopters are asked to submit an online adoption inquiry form. Once received, an adoption counselor will reach out via telephone to conduct an adoption interview. Animals posted to the website are ready to go home and applicants are typically called the same day as the Inquiry Form is received.

If approved, we will schedule an adoption appointment for the applicant and the animal at our facility in Pleasanton.
