Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Hi there, I’m a sweet older Miniature Poodle named Tasha and I have had a terrible start to life. I was raised by the Amish in Missouri, kept in a crate, and used for breeding, repeatedly, along with many other purebred dogs so our puppies could be auctioned. Many people don't realize that when we are about 8 years old they “retire” us which really means shoot and kill us, so many dog rescues offer to take us to find normal wonderful happy loving homes instead, and this is how I came to be with 4 Little Paws Rescue. I’m 8 years old, 13 lbs, now vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, and just had a dental so I’m all spiffed up, and I couldn't feel more grateful to be safe in a foster home in San Antonio Texas.
I am a very sweet little lady with exceptionally good manners, still shy in new situations, and although I adore my foster mom, I’m nervous when she reaches for me. I’ll run a bit but give up easily so she can pick me up and let the snuggles begin. I relax in her arms, calm and content, and if I were a kitty cat I would be purring! I’m friendly with all humans, and cats, and I’m great with other dogs. When I first moved into my foster home I was a scared couch potato, but now I have a few doggy playmates and I’m finally feeling like one of the pack. I run and play here and there, but still mostly follow my foster mom around the house. I only bark to alert and don't potty indoors. I would be happiest in a peaceful household without lots of noise or busy chaos. I am in no way ready for retirement, have gobs of love to give and I am so looking forward to being someone's cherished forever dog, proudly wearing a pretty collar with my name and your phone number on the tag. East Coast people, Inquire about me today and bring me home!
* 4 Little Paws is based in CT. We adopt in many different states along the East Coast. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. If you are located outside the states we typically adopt to, we have options to get the dog of your dreams to your location.

Please DO NOT apply unless the entire family / household is on board with adopting one of our dogs. We must receive an application for you to move forward in the process. Thoughtful direct emails are welcome and will be answered. However, an application is still a necessary step. We want to make sure we find our dogs a perfect fit with a family so both the dog and the family are happy. We keep our dogs with fosters once we get them out of shelters for a little bit to learn and understand their personalities. Our relationship with families doesn't stop at adoption! We are always available for any follow up questions and are happy to be a resource as you and your new pet settle into a routine.
