My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Susie is a beautiful female 4 1/2 year long legged hound that currently weighs 50ish pounds.

Susie is a great dog who is smart and likes to use her nose (of course). She likes to be around humans but likes her own space too, She doesn't need lots of attention, but just enjoys the company of her family. She can be a bit shy around strangers, especially men. Just be patient and let her come to you when she is ready. She would do best with a family that has a least one person who is at home. She loves treats and taking naps. She walks well, knows sit, , down, pay and high five commands

Susie is very food oriented so if you give her a couple of treats she will not leave your side. She likes to be fed in her own spot and does not like to share. She is good with older kids, but young ones are likely a bit too energetic for her taste. She also loves car rides and running and chilling in the shade. She does like to chase cats, so a no kitty household would be best. If you have another dog in the home, bring them to meet her to make sure they both approve.

Our adoption process takes several steps and cannot be completed in one day. All of our volunteers work full time and assist the rescue in their spare time. Please allow 2-3 business days for a response.

* Applicants must be willing to make a ten plus year commitment to their new family member.

* Applicants must commit to daily exercise, walks, trips to the dog park or play in the back yard. A well exercised dog is a happy well behaved dog!

* Applicants living in a rental property must provide proof of pet policy from landlord.

* Applicants must provide a veterinarian reference and if there are existing dogs in the household. All pets must be spayed/neutered and current on all shots and heartworm medication.

*Please allow at least a 7-14 day adjustment period for your new dog. Rescue dogs go thru a lot of changes and need a few days to get used to their new surroundings and adjust. Adopting a dog should be a serious commitment, so please be willing to work out the kinks. Our dogs aren't perfect but with proper training and guidance they make awesome, loving pets.

*Our adoption fees vary based on the age and medical needs of the dogs.
