Meet Sonny! He's a sweet, social and cheerful boy who's ready to meet his new best friend.
He's a young guy at just 2 years old and would enjoy continuing his training and learning new things. He loves going on walks, walks well on leash and isn’t bothered by passing trains, bicycles, or other dogs and people. He loves play time, games, and food puzzles that keep him busy. He may be a great fit for a family who loves to stay active, but also enjoys a cozy night with a good book or movie. He has lots and lots of love and snuggles to give that will help melt away any worries – everyday is a sunny day with Sonny! Please come meet him soon!

Operating the Vola Lawson Animal Shelter, an open-admission facility and Alexandria’s only animal shelter, the League provides care for more than 3,500 animals every year, including strays, lost pets, local wildlife, rescue animals, and pets surrendered by their owners. Serving the community since 1946, the League has contracted with the City of Alexandria to provide animal care, control, and sheltering services since 1989. The AWLA is committed to ending animal homelessness, promoting animal welfare, and serving as an educational resource for the community.
