Black Jack is a sweet little chihuahua mix. He was born around August 2023 and is 10 lbs.
Black Jack is playful, affectionate, smart and loyal. He can be shy when meeting new people and dogs but has shown he can warm up with slow introductions and treats. He is medium energy and enjoys romping around with other friendly, playful dogs. He loves to follow his humans around the house and yard. He likes to play with stuffed toys and chew on chewy bones. He becomes bonded to his people and is a loyal companion. He is affectionate and likes to cuddle with his person on the couch in the evenings. He has a tendency to grumble at other dogs when he is on the couch with his favorite person but is responsive to corrections and these corrections should be continued in a new home if needed.
Black Jack is crate trained, housebroken in his foster home and learning to enjoy walks and outings. He currently lives with dogs of various sizes and gets along well with them. He seems to prefer playing with dogs who are small to medium size. He also lives with dog savvy cats and is respectful with them but he might challenge shy kitties and chase if they run. Young children would likely overwhelm him so only dog savvy, respectful children over 12 are recommended. He likely would not do well being left home alone daily for long hours.
Black Jack would probably do best in a home with a young small - medium sized dog companion to pal around with, help show him the ropes and keep him company while his humans are away from home. He would likely be happy as an only dog if his humans are home the majority of the time. He wants to be a large part of his family’s life and enjoys being included in daily activities.
Black Jack is an affectionate, enjoyable little guy who is waiting for his forever home.

Our Mission Statement...
Sacramento Independent Animal Rescuers is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. Our purpose is to aid stray, abandoned, and neglected animals. In addition to animals rescued and adopted by our organization, SIAR is also dedicated to help other independent animal rescuers find their foster animals the loving homes they deserve. To date, thousands of dogs and cats have been rescued and placed into wonderful homes in the past few years. In order to provide these services, we work with the community shelters, rescue organizations, and individuals who have animals with special needs and place these animals in permanent homes after they reach a stage of wellness.
Our mission is to provide loving, permanent homes for animals that have been abused, abandoned, or lost, which otherwise would not be with us today. Many of our rescued animals, especially those that were rescued from the shelters initially had kennel cough, pneumonia, or giardia with the extreme cases having the parvo or distemper viruses. In addition, a high percentage of animals are malnourished and require special dietary demands. We rely on tax deductible cash donations as well as food and other pet supplies that will allow us to continue to save lives!
**** WE ARE IN GREAT NEED OF DONATIONS AS MANY OF THE ANIMALS WE RESCUE HAVE COSTLY MEDICAL PROBLEMS AND ARE CONSIDERED NON ADOPTABLE AT THE SHELTERS - WE HOPE TO GIVE THEM A SECOND CHANCE AT A LONG AND HAPPY LIFE****
All of our companion pets, have been neutered or spayed, given all current vaccinations, heartworm tested and microchipped. This also provides the community with healthier animals and aids in the reduction of the outspread of illness and future homeless offspring.
The adoption fee for animals being adopted by SIAR can range from $75-$100 (for kitties) and $150-$350 (for dogs) depending on the animal and associated costs. The adoption fee helps up recooperate the thousands of dollars spent yearly on rehabilitation and allows us to continue to rescue animals in need.
Please be sure to click on the animal you are interested in. The corresponding biography will let you know which rescuer you need to contact to learn more about that wonderful pet.
