Additional adoption info

Adoption Fees:
Kittens (up to 1 year) $120
Adult Cats (1-4 years) $100
Senior Cats (5 years and up) $90
Declawed Cats and Kittens $125
Barn Cats $35

All cats and kittens are spayed/neutered, microchipped, FeLV/FIV tested negative, dewormed, fully vaccinated as appropriate for their age, and started on monthly flea and tick preventative.

Puppies and dogs can vary in price due to breed and/or size, and typically range from $150 to $200. All dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested if appropriate and/or started on monthly heartworm preventative, dewormed, fully vaccinated as appropriate for their age, and started on monthly flea and tick preventative.

We also have sponsored dogs and cats on occasion which means that someone has already paid for the future adoption of these animals. In the event that an animal stays for a longer length of time, their adoption fees may be reduced as well to help get them into their loving forever homes!

All adoption fees paid are tax deductible. Fees collected are used to fund all of the programs we have here at the McCracken County Humane Society.

Go meet their pets

When you arrive at our shelter, a staff member will discuss with you animals that you are interested in. If you are unsure of a specific animal, staff will gather more information regarding individual wants/needs to make the best possible match for your situation. The animal(s) that you are interested in will then be brought to the front to meet with you. If you have a dog(s) and are adopting a dog, please bring your established pet for a meet and greet. If you rent, we will need to see a copy of your lease stating the pet policy for where you reside. Please feel free to call us if you have any questions at 270-443-5923 or email at Info@mccrackenhumane.org

Mission Statement

Since the foundation of the McCracken County Humane Society in 1951, our mission has been to facilitate and advocate for the humane treatment and welfare of all animals. We vow to educate against animal cruelty and the prevention of overpopulation and confront inhumane practices.
Our purpose at this humane society is to establish and maintain a facility that promotes and provides a healthy, safe living environment for unwanted but adoptable, owner surrender animals. With the generous help of shelter employees and volunteers that selflessly give their time, we commit that these animals are treated as our own and are given the love and attention that they deserve until we are able to place them with a person/persons that can give them a suitable permanent loving home.
The animals that are in our care are walked, exercised, groomed, socialized and provided health care. We do not euthanize simply for lack of space or have any time limited policy for determining animal euthanization.
We believe in celebrating pets and in providing health, well-being and meaningful social change for any animal that needs a home. We strive to be a well-organized, efficient humane society “home” for all of those in need.
