My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

(DOB 11/30/2022) Meet Bruce – a lovable hound mix with a heart as big as his paws! This happy, energetic, and affectionate “lap-dog” absolutely thrives on love and attention. Whether it’s cuddles on the couch, a walk around the block, or playing with his favorite humans, Bruce is all in! He’s an adventurous spirit who will never turn down a walk – the more, the better!

Bruce would be in his element with a family who loves to be active. He’d make the perfect companion for someone who enjoys running, playing, and bonding during one-on-one playtime. A fenced-in yard is ideal for this high-energy guy, but make sure it’s a 6-foot fence – Bruce is a natural athlete and can easily clear a 4-foot one!

This lovable pup gets along wonderfully with his 1.5-year-old human buddy and plays gently with him throughout the day. Bruce is sweet and patient with kids, making him an ideal family dog.

Bruce is crate-trained, though he loves to spend his days hanging out with his humans and soaking up all the outdoor fun he can get! He’s also starting command and leash training, and with his eager-to-please attitude, he’s a quick learner. Once fully healed from his neuter surgery, Bruce will undergo testing around other dogs and cats to ensure his compatibility.

I named him Bruce after “Batman” because this brave guy has overcome so much. Once a stray wandering the streets alone, he has shown nothing but resilience and a big heart despite his past. He may be cautious with new people, but his gentle spirit and warm personality shine through as soon as he gets to know you.

Bruce is ready to find his forever family, and if you’re looking for a fun-loving, loyal, and cuddly companion, he just might be your perfect match!

As part of Bruce’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Bruce, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

1. Review the description of the pet you are interested in to make sure that the information we have fits with your particular needs and desires. In most cases, the information on the website is current and gives the information that we have about the particular pet. The picture of the pet does not tell the whole story.

2. Complete the adoption application at https://pawsforlifenc.org. Please make sure that you give us as much information about yourself as you can. List all animals currently living with you including other dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and rodents. The application needs to be complete in order to help us determine if the pet you have chosen is a good match for your home.

3. Once the application is submitted we will contact you, your references, and your vet.

4. We require a home visit prior to dog adoptions.

5. If more than one person applies, we will go with the BEST fit. If all things are equal, we go in the order the applications were received.

6. Once the home visit has been completed, you will be asked to complete an adoption agreement.

7. The adoption fee is $325 for dogs under 6 months, $300 for 6 months and older. The adoption fee is $125 for kittens under 1 year ($225 for 2 kittens), $85 for cats 1 year and older. This fee helps us to provide the necessary medical care and other needs for the pets while in foster care.

8. All Paws For Life NC pets are spayed or neutered if old enough, current on shots, micro chipped, and to our knowledge, in good health before they are adopted out. Puppies under 6 months of age will require a $100 refundable spay/neuter deposit in addition to the adoption fee and a special puppy spay/neuter agreement. Kittens under 6 months will require a $50 refundable spay/neuter deposit in addition to the adoption fee. We are all volunteers and receive no monetary compensation for our work with the pets. The adoption fee is used to help defray costs in the rescue and care of the pets.

9. Congratulations! You are on your way to having your new companion. We hope that you and your new companion share a life of love and happiness. We welcome any comments you may wish to give us about your pet at any time.
