My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gracie is a lovely girl with a big personality who is ready to find her forever home. She would thrive in a peaceful environment where she can be the center of attention, free from children or other animals.

An independent spirit, Gracie enjoys spending time near her humans and being part of the action-on her terms. She's a great companion but appreciates having her personal space respected. Gracie would do best with a cat-savvy adopter who understands her boundaries, as she can sometimes have a short fuse if petting goes on for too long.

Gracie is also on an important weight loss journey, and her new family will need to help her stay on track to achieve a healthy lifestyle. With your love and care, Gracie will thrive and bring so much joy to your home!

Are you ready to meet Gracie and give her the life she deserves? Reach out to learn more about this independent queen today!

Do you think you could be Gracie's person? Here are some ways to find out:

1.) Visit our centre to meet this pet during adoption viewings Friday to Wednesday noon to 3pm, learn more about their ideal match, and apply to adopt in person; or

2.) Submit an online application adopt.spca.bc.ca and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit! Kindly note that due to the high number of applications and the availability of walk-in adoptions an online applicant would have to be available to come in for a meet within 24 hrs.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

    Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

    Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

    Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

    1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

    2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

    3. Freedom from distress

    4. Freedom from discomfort

    5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
