My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi my name is Ellie! I was rescued outside in Lakeside with my mom and 7 siblings by a nice couple who fostered us while Smittens got us ready for adoption! You will never find me sitting still, I’m always trying to wrestle with my sister Slinky. I’m very vocal about what I want and I’m always front and center demanding food or attention! One of my favorite toys is the round ball track with scratch pad, I could play that all day! Despite being a girl that just wants to have fun, I’m a sweetheart that’s always purring and would make a great addition to any home that has a playmate for me!

Please note young kittens are adopted out in pairs or to a home with another playful cat or kitten.

Smittens isn’t just another cat rescue.
We are a coalition of volunteers with a spay/neuter mission, dedicated to helping both stray and owned animals in the greater San Diego area get fixed, receive veterinary care, and whatever else they may need! Smittens works with shelters and other rescues to route cats to proper vet care and eventual homes, and we take in stray cats who need help getting off the street. We also support TNR for feral cats, and assist cat and dog owners to get their own pets fixed and vaccinated at a low cost.
