My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi my name is Ginger! I was rescued with my brother, Snickers and our buddy, Smurf from a shelter in Downey with a slight upper respiratory infection. I’m so thankful Smittens was able to care for us and get us nice and healthy! I’m the diva of the bunch, I like to sunbathe all day and play with my siblings. I act like the queen of the house and I’m always sitting on the couch proud when my foster gets home. I love playing with my toys and scratching post. I’m super cuddly and I want to be by my humans, but not necessarily be held or sit on your lap. My brother, Snickers and I are definitely a bonded pair and would love to be adopted together. I can’t wait to find my forever home where I can live my best life!

Please note young kittens are adopted out in pairs or to a home with another playful cat or kitten.

Smittens isn’t just another cat rescue.
We are a coalition of volunteers with a spay/neuter mission, dedicated to helping both stray and owned animals in the greater San Diego area get fixed, receive veterinary care, and whatever else they may need! Smittens works with shelters and other rescues to route cats to proper vet care and eventual homes, and we take in stray cats who need help getting off the street. We also support TNR for feral cats, and assist cat and dog owners to get their own pets fixed and vaccinated at a low cost.
