Meet Bobby, a four year old German Shepherd mix weighing around 90 pounds.
Animal Control picked up Bobby and brought him in to us, according to the people who called him in he had been wandering around the trailer park for years without an owner. We can’t imagine how such a loving and sweet dog was on the streets without care for that long, surviving off of scraps and kindness from strangers. Bobby’s skin speaks to this story as well, his coat didn’t get this bad overnight but rather from months… If not years of neglect. We did a skin scraping and started treatment right away, although it came back negative for mange, who knows how long this has been going on. His ears are both a yeasty, nasty mess that is clearly causing him discomfort. Thankfully, all of this is treatable and reality easy to fix, which is why it is so unfortunate he suffered in this condition for so long.
Bobby has been a champ through it all, he seems to realize he has finally been rescued. He loves all the attention and scratches we have been giving him and although unsure at times, he takes everything in stride with the grace and dignity the German Shepherd breed is known for. Bobby walks well on the leash, he can use some reassurance at times but we are more than happy to provide that. He is looking for a home that will love him and make sure he is never in such a horrible condition again. With time we think Bobby should recover his fur, but this could take many months if not a year so we are hoping someone will see his potential and love him as he is today, fur or no fur!
