My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tilly – A Big Heart in a Growing Pup

Meet Tilly, a delightful black-and-white mix of terrier, schnauzer, poodle—or who knows! This sweet girl is a mystery wrapped in adorable fur, but one thing is certain: she's on her way to being a big bundle of joy. At just 13-14 weeks old, Tilly weighs around 20 lbs and is likely to grow into a sturdy 50-60 lbs companion.

Tilly is a lover through and through. Her top priorities are children, dogs, and water—yes, in that order! Whether playing with kids, romping with canine friends, or splashing in puddles or lakes, she loves it all. Tilly's zest for life is contagious. Her southern foster mom couldn't stop raving about her, calling her “the easiest dog ever” and a joy to have around.
Now in New England, her new foster says she is doing so very well- loves her kids and resident dog. She has awesome puppy energy - ready to play but settles nicely in her crate when she’s done....perfect!!!

Tilly’s journey to us is as unique as her. Her foster dad, a mechanic, met her when a customer brought her to his shop along with her car. The overwhelmed owner asked him to fix the car and find a new home for the dog, who was driving her crazy despite being adored by her children. While the situation was heartbreaking, we're grateful Tilly ended up with us—and now, she’s looking for her forever family.

If Tilly sounds like your dream dog, don’t wait—this sweetheart won’t be available for long. Apply now to make her yours!

The adoption fee also includes the transport fee.

ATTENTION PUPPY ADOPTERS:  You must attend training/behavior classes with your new dog unless you are experienced dog owners and your adoption coordinator is comfortable with your experience.  This requirement is for the benefit of you and your puppy, so if you experience behavior issues, you have a point of contact.

PLEASE—Think long and hard before adopting a puppy. Consider the lifestyle change this puppy will come with. He cannot be crated for more than 3-4 hours at a time until he's older. Puppy-proofing your home will be necessary. Puppies scratch and nip, so if you have small children, can they handle this? Training will be so important in this puppy's life. Do you have the time?

Please consider purchasing this book before adopting.  Perfect Puppy in 7 Days - How to Start Your Puppy Off Right, Sophia Yin, DVM - it is an amazing book that we recommend very highly and have had amazing feedback on.

More about this rescue

PAWS is comprised of a small group of volunteers from New England and Tennessee trying to reduce the euthanization rate (previously 90%) at the Tipton County Animal Control shelter in Brighton, Tennessee. This shelter is forced to euthanize thousands of animals each year due to irresponsible pet owners that do not spay/ neuter their dogs in the area. Millions of dogs in America are euthanized each year due to lack of space and lack of funding to try and find them better homes.

Our mission is to save as many animals as possible, removing them from the shelter, having their veterinary needs met prior to traveling and then finding them loving homes throughout New England. We do this only with the assistance of many people volunteering their time by going to the shelter, transporting the dogs to the vet, fostering dogs who need special care, and arranging for their new and happy homes in this area. Most importantly, we cannot do any of this without those people willing to open their homes and hearts to these lovely creatures.
