My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

To adopt please fill out an adoption application.

Our volunteer was at the Memphis Animal Shelter to check on a dog when she witnessed the heartbreaking scene of Missy being surrendered by her owner and, without a second thought, she scooped up Missy and got her right out of that shelter!   Missy is a small 4yo female lab mix. Sweet, well-socialized, gentle, calm, low maintenance. Great with other dogs, she loves to run and play with other dogs at the dog park. Her previous owner reported that Missy lived comfortably with cats her whole life and you can see from her video that she passed the cat test!  LOVES kids and plays gently with foster mom’s grandchildren and recommended for children 6 years and older. Playful with moderate activity level outside and settles down quickly in the house. Good house manners. Housebroken and uses the doggy door. Never crated because she doesn’t need to be. Obeys basic commands.  Loves to be with her people.  Healthy and fully vetted, current on shots, spayed, weighs about 40 pounds. AWESOME lab mix will make a wonderful companion for an active family with kids.

All our Good Dogs are in southern foster homes.

More about this rescue

Good Dog Rescue is an all-breed rescue group headquartered in the South. Our group is comprised of volunteers all over the Southeast who love dogs and want to help those that end up homeless through no fault of their own. Loyal and loving dogs turn up every day in Southern shelters, as owners turn them in or they’re found roaming the streets after being dumped. To the best of our abilities, we evaluate all of our Good Dogs’ temperament and suitability for living with other dogs, cats, and children. A dog’s health is checked, and we make sure they are up-to-date on all shots and are spayed or neutered. Then, we place them in loving foster homes until they find their very own family. Our goal is to meet the needs of each dog as an individual and to assure proper placement in a loving forever home.
