My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion.

A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.

Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.

Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.

Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list.

thanks

Date into Rescue:12/3/24

Reason for being in rescue: Owner release
Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Special Needs? Jolene is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Jolene is an epileptic. She takes Keppra 3 times/day. Her dose is 1/2 of a 250 mg.  At 1800petmeds, the price is .24 cents per pill. Jolene gets 1 1/2 pills for a total of .36 cents per day or about $11 per month.  Getting her medicine 3 times a day on a consistent schedule is critical to Jolene's overall health and helping minimize seizure activity.  She will also need regular checkups and annual bloodwork (each vet is different in what they require for their dogs).
Weight: 17.5 lbs
Height: 14 in
Spayed/Neutered: Yes

Adoption Fee: $1 - I am priceless

Fence needed? No, Jolene is an indoor dog.

What kind of home would be best for me?  Jolene is a sweet, active, and affectionate young Pomeranian and Shih Tzu mix who is looking for a loving home. Jolene came to us due to a medical condition and needs a special adopter who can continue providing her the care she deserves.

Jolene has epilepsy, and while her condition is manageable with medication, she will need her Keppra three times a day to stay healthy and happy. The cost for her medication is about $90 per month, which is around $3 a day. With the right care, Jolene can live a full, normal life as the playful, loving companion she’s meant to be.

Jolene’s medication regimen is simple to manage, and nearly anyone can handle it. However, her ideal adopter would be someone who has prior experience with dogs that have seizures. Although Jolene’s condition is well-controlled with her meds, there’s always a slight chance she could experience a seizure. An experienced adopter would recognize the signs and calmly hold her until the episode passes. It’s usually a brief and non-threatening event, and Jolene is fine afterward. If you’re new to managing seizures, don’t worry—we’re happy to help guide you, and your vet can offer additional information regarding Jolene’s condition.

Jolene’s size makes her well-suited for apartment or house living, and she can fit seamlessly into almost any lifestyle, be they a single adopter, a couple, or a family. She does well with children, but we recommend a home with older kids (10+ years) who can interact with her gently and calmly.

Come meet Jolene and let her show you just how much love one little dog can offer. You’ll be so glad you did!

What is my personality like? Jolene was in a loving home for nearly a year, but her owner faced challenges in managing her medical care and costs. After much consideration, her owner made the heart-wrenching decision to release Jolene to us, hoping to find a safe, caring family who could offer her both love and the ongoing treatment she needs.

Jolene is good with everyone—people, dogs, cats, and even chickens! She’s easygoing and enjoys the company of others, making her a great fit for most households. Her tiny heart is overflowing with love. Jolene is the epitome of a lap dog—she loves to be pampered and adored! Whether she’s playing with her favorite chew toys or lounging in a cozy sweater, she’s happiest when she’s the center of attention. Jolene is playful, sweet, and loves being doted on. When she’s not running around, her idea of the perfect day is sitting in your lap, soaking up all the love and affection she can get, or peacefully snoozing the afternoon away.

While she may need some refresher training on her leash walking and basic commands like sit, stay, and come, Jolene is eager to please and will quickly pick up the essentials. She is also a pro at wearing tiny sweaters and enjoys being dressed up!

If you’re ready to welcome a sweet, loving lap dog into your life and don’t mind providing a little extra care to help her stay healthy, Jolene will reward you with endless love and affection. This adorable pup is ready to give her whole heart to the right person, and in return, she’ll fill your life with happiness, snuggles, and joy.

How do I act when I first meet new people? Jolene has never met a stranger. She believes every new person is just another lap waiting for her! If you’re looking for a cuddly, affectionate companion, Jolene is your girl.

Other tips and tidbits: Jolene was born on 1/7/2024.

House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.

To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application.

Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.

Thank you for considering CPR.
