My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Scout!

Want to learn how he got his name? This handsome boy was spotted a few months ago trying to get a meal from a garbage dumpster by our local Girl Scout office. The animal lovers at the office had been helping him out with meals on the occasions when he turned up on their grounds and were happy to help us out with getting him trapped so he could be neutered and into a safer environment.

We don't know much about him, but he appears to be a healthy young man around a year old. He's still a bit nervous about being picked up, but once he's relaxed he loves head scratches and belly rubs. He gets along great with his feline roommates and should do fine with a respectful dog.

Upon intake, he would get up and immediately run into the cage when the foster would go in the room, but he does it less often now. He really gets stressed about being grabbed or picked up, but he's never mean or aggressive. Just a sweet, goofy, lovable orange boy. He does like pets, he just gets nervous about being grabbed. Adult children would be best for this critter!

Scouts adoption fee is $50 and he comes neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped. He will come with a sample of the food he's been eating. To apply to adopt, please submit an application at www.murcismission.org.

Thank you for considering our boy!

More about this rescue

From the day we could talk we told our pets more than we ever told our parents. We took the long route to see the kitty in the window down the street. We stopped even when we were late to pet the dog. We grew up and we saw what the world does to those who can't defend themselves. We are here to change that.

Ethical rescue, including fully vetting every animal and carefully placing them all into homes matched to their physical and mental needs is what we do.

Respecting all life, both animal and human, while retaining an underlying goal of keeping animals in their homes. and fostering a sense of community between local shelters and rescues is how we do it.
