Handsome Lynx was found in a park after being dumped by his owner. He is a gorgous fella and resembles a lion. He may have some Maine Coon lineage given his size and large mane around his neck. Poor Lynx has been through a lot in his life. Shortly after we rescued him, he was hospitalized with a urinary blockage and it took many months to address that and get him healthy. We discovered that he has cystitis (aka feline lower urinary tract disease) and after some various medication trials, we found one that works well for him and his condition - Singulair/Montelukast, which is a generic allergy medication. He's been on this medication well over a year and has not had any issues with inflammation/straining. And fortunately, it's pretty inexpensive costing roughly $15/month supply. He also takes his meds like a champ.
Unfortunately, Lynx has developed a bit of a bad habit of urinating in front of his litter box rather than inside it. This is most likely due to an aversion he developed from associating the litter box with pain and discomfort. I put potty pads in front of his litter box and he uses those just fine (he does poo in the box though). We realize this is not ideal and may limit his chances of getting adopted, but he's so worth it! Lynx is such an awesome cat and loves everyone he meets. He gives the best hugs and just wants to curl up on your lap for some cuddle time. He's friendly and social and greets everyone with a head nuzzle or leg rub. He does fine with other cats and has lived with them all of his life. He may adjust to a small, cat-friendly dog with a proper introduction, and kids are no problem as that just means more attention for him.
Lynx loves canned food which works out well because it's best for his urinary tract and ensuring he stays hydrated. He also likes playing with catnip toys and laying on warm, comfy beds. He's a wonderful cat with so much personality and charm so if you don't mind his little "quirk", then please consider giving him the gift of a forever home.
