Aberdeen Scottish Terrier Rescue is a registered 501(c)3
Web Site: www.aberdeenstr.com
***MUST SUBMIT APPLICATION before we will respond to email or phone inquiries. Thank You for your cooperation***
Please read listings fully to the end before applying for one of our beloved rescues.
WE ARE NOT A SHELTER; WE ARE AN ALL-VOLUNTEER RESCUE WITH FULL-TIME JOBS.
Please do not contact us to look at a dog. We will contact you once we have reviewed your completed application if we think your home might be a good fit. A reference check, phone interview, and home visit will be completed before meeting an adoptable dog.
We work quickly. Please do not submit an application until you are ready to bring a new furry family member home. Expect your references to be contacted shortly after submitting your application. We adopt out to homes around WA state & Oregon but require that you are present for the meet and greet in Newcastle, WA.
Our adoption fee is non-negotiable. The adoption fee is due on the day of adoption in the form of a check, Zelle, PayPal, if using PayPal the potential adopter will have to pay the fees & charges with PayPal.
Soul destroying to think of what she has been through & yet she still loves human beings even after everything they have done to her. Lyric along with her 2 other siblings were kept 24/7 in a crate & the breeder here in WA state was not feeding them. She would forget to feed these beautiful souls she said & could not take care of them. 3 of them were kept in a cage at the age of 4 months & when we got them they were so extremely skinny & so matted & stunk so bad & had not been receiving any love nor care & had never ever been to a vet & were consuming their own fecis to stay alive. Yes, you did just read that correctly. We rescued a total of 7 standards from this breeder when she would allow them to leave & instantly got everyone straight to our vets. Our souls were so broken for what Lyric had endured & her siblings. Lyric & her siblings are all available for a loving devoted forever home now they are healthy & so very loved & the sweetest dogs you will ever meet.
Lyric is so now a ball of love, fun & energy & so very spirited. Considering her past life she had to learn what it was like to be in a loving foster home & the normal freedom. At first when she arrived she didn’t know what to do & was uncertain after being kept in a cage. She had to learn to walk properly as she did not know how to from being kept in a cage with her 2 siblings. Those days are over for Lyric & now she knows she can go wherever she wants. You can find this girl just sitting there taking it all in as she is so grateful. She will just sit there or lay there & watch what you are doing without a care in the world now. We cannot stress enough how lovely Lyric is & deserves the most loving home. This girl is so stunning inside & out & she has come along way since we rescued her. We posted her story on social media along with her journey & her siblings. The reality is she had to learn everything with us. She is so forgiving. She just wants you to love her & she will love you back. She adores being hugged & held because the reality is we are the first real people in her life to show her such true love & affection once she has built that trust with you.
She adores her foster mum & her foster dad & has gotten cheekier as every day passes.
She will put her paws on the kitchen counter & try to eat what is on the benches & will pull food down if she can.
In her foster home she eats a clean diet meaning, raw fruits, vegetables, proteins, grains & different supplements. She loves her bully sticks & collagen sticks too.
She is absolutely obsessed with her food & she will eat with her foster siblings but will want to eat all the food. Considering her past this is not surprising.
At first we had to teach her not to eat her fecis as that’s all she knew to survive. We treated her for worms & giradia a few times because of this which was so very sad.
It has taken months upon months upon months to put the amount of weight we have put on her. She could still put on more weight at a slow rate.
Lyric is still learning to walk on harness & leash considering we believe we are the first people to teach her how to go on walks but would still need to be taught. Lyric has been taught to walk on a slip lead. Lyric is a rescue & will need patience, time & understanding.
Lyric adores being pampered & doesn’t want you to stop when brushing her, cleaning her eyes, grooming her, she loves it all once she knows you. She also does extremely well being touched in general & adores receiving love.
In her foster homes she loves beds, blankets & will want to sleep with you if she can. In her foster home she instantly taught herself to walk up hardwood stairs. She is a very smart intelligent girl. She also loves laying near her brothers & lets other dogs lay on top of her to snuggle with her.
Having toys & a warm bed is all new to Lyric & we have been excited to change her world with the introduction of toys & lots of love & affection & a loving environment.
She is definitely a dog’s dog & loves people too.
Lyric has learnt to ride in the car & does amazing in the car & enjoys a good car ride. She is such an easy & sweet going, loving little lady. With Lyric we are only looking for a crate free home for this lovely little lady only. Please do not apply with the intent to crate this girl, we do not want this again for our sweetheart. We are also looking for a forever home for Lyric where someone is home during the day or she can go with her people wherever possibly he can go with them.
This girl adores a good outfit & is now used to wearing clothes.
Did we mention this girl loves a good outfit too.
Lyric is looking for a forever home who will cherish her & love her as she should be loved & be very patient with her & understanding.
Lyric has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes & she is currently with other dogs & enjoys their company. She can be found at times snuggled up to her foster siblings or her brothers who she is fostered with. She is a very playful girl & definitely needs a very playful dog in her new forever home. She can play very rough. She is best friends with a toy poodle.
A fully fenced backyard is mandatory for Lyric’s new forever home along with another dog friend if it’s a freestanding dwelling. Please do not apply saying your neighbors have a dog or family members or you will take her to places where there are other dogs.
Lyric is now roughly 35 lbs & is 10.5 months old & a female parti standard poodle & what she is mixed with we are not sure? She is spayed by laser & is microchipped, up to date on her shots including DHPP, Bordatella, rabies & dewormed.
She had her ears cleaned & meds put into them.
She also had a dental scale & polish along with dental x-rays.
We have spent far more on Lyric with multiple vet visits between 2 vets, getting her well & her surgeries without anything else than her adoption fee comes close to covering.
Lyric has not been around cats since being in the rescue but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals. We have not had Lyric with small children so we do not recommend children, but it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children & animals.
We were not there when Lyric was conceived so we do not know who her parents were & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think her breed is.
As with all of our rescues & Lyric’s friends she will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Please do not email us asking is Lyric potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond.
We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying.
Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Lyric & going through our process and have read her listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on & remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit using Zoom to covid & followed by a meet and greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Lyric who understands her needs & that meet all the requirements for this lovely little lady.
Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately.
Lyric has an adoption fee of $1250 & is ready for her truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what she has been through.
