My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Star is a 3-year-old (vet’s guess) Chihuahua mix weighing around 16 pounds. Words to describe her are sweet, calm, gentle, and happy.  She had a couple litters of puppies and is now eager to begin her new life as a family dog with all the attention given to her.

She was found as a stray with two of her puppies. We do not know Star’s backstory but can tell she is well-behaved and appreciative of having a home again. She is an “everyone” type of dog equally compatible with and equally loving all members of her foster family. This dog is friendly to each person wagging her tail as someone walks by her inside the house or giving a greeting by getting up on her hind legs when someone is sitting down.

CRATE TRAINED – YES
She will go in her crate if needed but prefers to be with humans.

OTHER DOGS COMPATIBLE – YES
She will be fine living as an only dog or with another dog. Since Star had puppies she is used to having dogs around and likes them. But she also does love when she is the center of attention at the foster family house (she is known as the “new” dog).

POTTY TRAINED – YES
The foster family has concluded that she is potty trained since she has not had any accidents in the house.

LEASH WALKING – YES
Star gets excited when her leash is put on and she gets to go out the door. She is so excited that she tends to pull when walking on the sidewalk but the foster family found out she is easily trainable.

BUDDY AND CO-WORKER – YES
She will lay quietly on a dog bed while the foster mother is working on the computer but when she sees her get up she also gets up being a partner ready to do what is next. Star also likes her foster dad and visits him frequently in his “man-cave” wanting to be pet or get on his lap.

The average lifespan for this breed of dog is 15 years; therefore, Star’s adopter will need to be prepared to keep her for around 12 more years so she will not have to move to a different home again.

Star’s adoption fee is $500. This dog comes microchipped, spayed, up to date on all necessary vaccines/rabies shots, and heartworm tested being negative. She is currently being fostered in the Plant City/Valrico Florida area.

***We are a foster-based rescue with no shelter or facility to view our dogs, and our address is a mailing address only. Please be patient as we are an all-volunteer rescue, and our rescue dogs are in various loving foster homes throughout West-Central Florida. As a general rule we try to limit our adoptions to within the state of FL. If interested in one of our dogs, please fill out a foster or adopt application at www.4luckydogs.org, and we will contact you by phone/text if we feel your application is the best fit out of the ones received.***
