My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mary is a kindhearted rabbit with a gentle and shy demeanor that makes her truly special. While she may initially be a little cautious around new people and in unfamiliar settings, she is a quick learner when it comes to building trust. With time, patience, and plenty of gentle care, Mary gradually blossoms into a sweet, affectionate, and social companion.

One of her endearing qualities is how relaxed she seems when people are around. She observes the world with calm curiosity, often approaching for food or treats, which shows her growing confidence. Mary is also making great progress in her litter training and is already almost fully trained, making her a tidy and easy-to-care-for addition to any home.

This lovely rabbit is sure to bring warmth and joy to a household that can offer her the love and stability she needs to thrive.

Do you think you could be Mary's person? Here are some ways to find out:

1.) Visit our centre to meet this pet during adoption viewings Friday to Tuesday noon to 3pm, learn more about their ideal match, and apply to adopt in person; or

2.) Submit an online application adopt.spca.bc.ca and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit! Kindly note that due to the high number of applications and the availability of walk-in adoptions an online applicant would have to be available to come in for a meet within 24 hrs.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

    Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

    Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

    Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

    1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

    2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

    3. Freedom from distress

    4. Freedom from discomfort

    5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
