Meet Quincey, a young terrier mix waiting just for you. He's a playful pup, always ready for a game of fetch or a tasty snack. His curiosity knows no bounds; every leaf, every butterfly, every new smell is an adventure waiting to be explored. Quincey is also a friendly fellow, quick to make friends with both humans and other dogs. His sweet nature is evident in his gentle play and his constant tail wags. At just 1 year old, Quincey is still learning about the world, but he's eager to learn and quick to please. Adopting Quincey means gaining a loyal friend who will bring joy and laughter into your life. His boundless energy and love of life make him the perfect companion for those who love to play and explore. Quincey is waiting to share his love and zest for life with a forever family. Will you be the one to open your heart and home to this sweet, playful, curious pup? Give us a call at (740) 314-5583 for more information!

More about this shelter
We are the Jefferson County Humane Society and , except for our humane officers (who are paid very nominally), we are all volunteers! Our members were instrumental in getting a local levy passed to build a new and larger shelter and the doors opened in 2011. We are currently participating in Iams Home for the Holidays Program and the Purina Pets for People grant program. We are actively pursuing other grants and recently have been asked by the county to partner with them in the operation of the new shelter. Since we are a humane society, our main focus is on getting animals spayed and neutered so there are no more homeless pets. To that end, we bring in a mobile animal surgical clinic who performs spays and neuters at a reduced rate. We are always looking for volunteers to help us in our efforts and, of course, for financial contributions (we are a non-profit, 501 (c)3) and pet adopters! Other items such as food, treats, pet carriers, cages, leashes, collars, food bowls, etc. are also ALWAYS welcomed and appreciated. Please contact us if you have an item to be donated or would like to volunteer with us to try to save some of these homeless, but very loveable, dogs!
