My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This little sad looking guy is Planter. He came in as a stray on December 4th with a little puppy and sadly no one came to claim them. The puppy was adopted out quickly but this shy guy is still here. He has the sweetest disposition, and is the gentlest dog you will ever meet. The shelter is a scary place for sensitive dogs like him, but these dogs make THE BEST and MOST LOYAL pets once they are in the home with you. Planter is also house broken and likes to leave his beds and blankets the way he found them - neat and cozy. Planter will be a little shy when you first meet him, but don`t let that fool you - he is just waiting to fall in love with you! Come meet him today!

HSSM is home to over 300 pets on any given day, most of which are looking for new forever homes! Your new best friend could be waiting at HSSM right now. Our beautiful, 41,000 square foot facility is currently open to the public. HSSM is open for adoptions Tuesday – Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. No appointment is necessary to adopt, however, adoptions are first-come, first served. You must come to HSSM to complete your adoption and make sure you bring a photo ID, as it is required to complete adoption paperwork.
Our adoptable animals page is self-updating and displays ALL of HSSM’s adorable adoptable pets from “pocket pets” to birds and of course the hundreds of dogs and cats currently calling HSSM home! See one you like? Make sure you note your favorite’s name and animal ID number so that HSSM staff and volunteers can easily find him/her when you come in!
Adoptions are cut off every day about 30 minutes prior to closing and possibly earlier if volume is high. Weekends are busy and you may have to wait more than an hour (especially in the afternoons) so please be prepared.
